‘I Like You’ Installation, 2015, perspex, spray paint, mirror, feathers, The Laundry Hackney

Interim Show, The Laundry, London, United Kingdom, 27 – 29 March 2015

In the western culture feather wings are often associated with angels.

An angel is a supernatural being or spirit found in various religions and mythologies. Angels can have roles such as guardians and protectors that lead us on to the ‘right’ path in life. Maybe each of us has the potential to be one of these supernatural beings for someone or perhaps more importantly for ourselves?…

The ‘human’ that can change our life are we. We can be our own angel.

Visitors can observe themselves in the mirror and perhaps the title of the work will inspire each one of them. I am interested in the moment where the illusion makes the observer feel like the wings belong to them and the emotions that may be triggered by that.

Dimensions:

Mirrored acrylic cut in the shape of a head with neck and shoulders, approx. 40 x 20cm

Two feather wings are hanged on each side of the mirror approx. 45 x 30cm

Overall dimensions approx. 60 x 80cm
